THE ISSUE

Many low-income neighborhoods in the United States lack access to fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables. Residents rely on neighborhood corner stores and fast food chains as their main sources of food. As a result, their health deteriorates and bad eating habits are passed on for generations.

THE SOLUTION
The Strong Roots Food Program brings locally organic grown foods to underserved communities. Our approach is to meet people where they are to encourage them eat healthy and make decisions that will improve their health. We provide on site education about the nutritional value of the healthy foods!

Click on this link to locate local foods in season in your area.
The best preventive health care is found in the healing properties naturally stored in fruits and vegetables!

Everyone has a gift or skill that will assist in the preservation of Mother Earth. Our workshops are customized to take the audience’s unique situation into account, to give action oriented advice on how to “go green” by living naturally.

Time Dedication: 3 hours per workshop

Foot Soldier for Change is an environmental and character development program designed for African- American “at risk” youth. We use reggae, hip-hop, R&B and games to create a fun and interactive learning experience. During the process, youth develop their technical and artistic skills. There are 21 modules in the 7 week process.

The framework for the program:

  1. Know Thyself: Understanding African culture (pre-slavery to now)
  2. E.V.E. of a New Day: Social & Character Development
  3. My Earth: Ecological Community & Action as a Steward of the Earth
  4. Original Hustlas: Social Entrepreneur (financial literacy, building wealth, time management etc)

Course reading materials:

“The Green Economy”, Van Jones
“Think & Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill
“Powernomics,” Dr. Claude Anderson
